The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at several agonizing personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second release released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
