Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
