Beautiful weather, classic snacks and legendary venues - what more could an England cricket fan desire?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to win back the Ashes following the initial matches.

That will not be happening this time, though, after Australia's crushing 82-run win in Adelaide gave Australia with a 3-0 lead for the fourth consecutive series on home turf.

The Barmy Army, England's supporters' group, have thousands of supporters traveling for the last two matches in New South Wales and Victoria.

There are also organized trips who will be vacationing in Australia, as well as families and friends embarking on a special expedition.

Fans with Booked Tickets

The Ryding siblings are a prime example.

The group had their flights and tickets booked for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "a full year in advance", dreaming of a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia dismantle the tourists in just 11 days from their residence in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been making comments about it being over for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"We always thought that we would have the series on the line by the time we arrived."

Fading Positivity

There was plenty of positivity about England's chances of ending their 15-year wait for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

However, the situation is now staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 matches when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The tourists - and their followers - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent years had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for England fans.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the remaining matches - and all they are requesting from the players is "some resilience".

"All analysts points it out, but it all is about mental resilience. 'This style has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"Over the course of five days, you should hunker down. Playing at deliveries 'outside the line has never been in the fundamentals, and that is largely because of the top order."

Future Prospects

Prompted about he believed England will triumph in a Test in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good currently."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that stands up for England and makes a big impact."

Despite the scoreline, the fans are excited about the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience regardless," said Katie. "We have to go with that outlook."

"Of course, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."

"We plan to savor having Christmas and New Year in Australia. Additionally, it's our first experience traveling over Christmas."

A teacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I've got golf to turn to," she finished.
