Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
