Followers Urge Detainment of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral video shows the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while others called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the popular stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, winning a pair for best costume and production design.
