From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
